Open 3a accounts in staggered order
Save taxes on purchases over several years
I am 64 years old and have two 3a-Koni with 48,000 and 51,000 francs respectively. What is the best way to close these accounts and pay tax on them?
3a accounts may be closed/used by women aged 59 or over and by men aged 60 or over at any time. The last 3a account must be closed by the 64th or 65th birthday at the latest. If you continue to work at retirement age, you must close your two accounts when you give up gainful employment, but no later than 70 (women 69). For tax reasons, it is recommended that you close the two accounts in different years. In this way you break the progression, as once 99,000 francs cause more taxes than 48,000 francs in one plus 51,000 francs in another year. If you retire at the normal age of 65, you should draw on an account in the current year if possible. Next year, you will turn 65 and will be “forced” to close your second 3a account.
